Six schools crowned 2009 Kansas journalism champs

Six Kansas high schools were awarded Sweepstakes trophies on May 2, 2009, at the KSPA state championships, held at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

The winners:

• Troy High School, Class 1A
• Humboldt High School, Class 2A
• Phillipsburg High School, Class 3A
• Andover High School, Class 4A
• Mill Valley High School, Class 5A
• Shawnee Mission East High School, Class 6A

This year’s contest circuit begins on Feb. 25, 2010, with regionals at Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University and Wichita State University. The University of Kansas regional is set for Feb. 26, 2010.

The state contest is scheduled for May 1, 2010, again on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
