Our Fall Conferences are a rich Kansas Scholastic Press Association tradition, inspiring student journalists across the state. Kansas student journalists will gather at three universities to learn from professionals, university instructors and talented high school teachers.

These conferences will spark enthusiasm for the year to come, appealing to the most experienced student editors as well as students new to the subject. Whether their passions lie in reporting, photography, design, videography or editing, students are sure to find something to inspire them! At the same time, our robust community of journalism teachers value the ability to connect with each other while also learning from industry professionals and fellow educators.

At each site, students will benefit from:

Three or four blocks of breakout sessions on a wide range of topics, including photography, reporting, yearbook production, newspaper production, digital storytelling, broadcast, design, videography and more

• Expert advice from professionals, university professors and talented advisers

A variety of choices that allow students to explore their interests

A celebration of state sweepstakes winners as schools pick up trophies from the 2025 state contests

Opportunities to tour state-of-the-art college media facilities

Chances to build connections with other journalists from across the state

Advice to help students prepare for the 2026 regional and state journalism contests

A day of bonding with fellow staff members and advisers
