2026 KSPA State Celebration

Join teachers and students from across Kansas for a celebration of student journalism at the University of Kansas on Saturday, May 2. Cheer as we recognize journalism excellence and announce winners of the state journalism contests. Then stick around for fun and a little more competition!

Registration for students is free, but we need to know who to expect so register by April 15. For advisers participating in the advisers brunch, the cost is $20.

Can’t make it? We’ll release the results online starting at 1 p.m. May 2. We’ll mail any certificates and awards to schools not able to pick up their recognitions in person.

With teacher permission, students may also visit the Bird Dog Bar in the Oread Hotel. The restaurant is sit-down dining that is more expensive than the options in the Kansas Union. Find directions to the Bird Dog here. The walk is less than a quarter-mile and should take about 5 minutes.
