Allie Crome-Karst has been the adviser at Silver Lake JR/SR High School for four years. Before teaching at Silver Lake, Crome-Karst graduated from Emporia State University. Crome-Karst teaches a wide variety of journalistic subjects for 8-12th grade students at Silver Lake. Under Crome-Karst’s supervision, students in publication courses create the high school yearbook, newspaper, video production, and the K-8 yearbook. In addition to those courses, students under Crome-Karst’s supervision run Eagle Eye Photography, which is responsible for taking and distributing student portraits and sports photos. The most recent addition to the program is a live streaming team which provides broadcasts of sporting events to the community. Most of all, Crome-Karst enjoys inspiring her students to find and grow their journalistic passion, whether it’s writing, photography, or videography.
