It’s the 2021 KSPA T-shirt Design Contest

Unlike previous t-shirt design contests, this one allows you to celebrate student journalism in Kansas — not attached to any event.

Put your design skills to the test. The winning T-shirt design (or maybe more than one!) will be sold to celebrate student journalism in the Sunflower State.

Plus! the winner will receive a $50 check and a free shirt.

IDEAS

• SUNFLOWER HIGH SCHOOL! A shirt celebrating our mythic high school for Regional and State Contests. So much has been written about this school that doesn’t even exist. Incorporate their mascot (the Mighty Buffaloes) or their charming colors (yellow and brown). Maybe it’s a spoof t-shirt . . . or a vintage t-shirt . . . or a Sunflower High School spirit shirt. Any true KSPA kid will get the inside joke!
• SHOW STUDENT JOURNALISM PRIDE: You get it. The publications room is magnificent. Your adviser is like your parent. And your staff is like your family. What words and designs showcase how you feel about being a student journalist?
• CELEBRATE KANSAS FREE EXPRESSION: Kansas student journalists have the right to free expression that is so rare. Thump your chest — literally! — when you design a shirt that student journalists will wear statewide.
• {INSERT YOUR GREAT IDEA HERE} This is your chance, you inspired idea person! What t-shirt would your fellow journalism students go bonkers to buy?

GUIDELINES

• Entries can include JUST a front side design OR both a front-and-back design. If submitting two sides, please submit two different files
• The student should incorporate a background color from available shirt colors from our vendor.
• Up to THREE ink colors may be incorporated in the design. (You can use fewer if you like.)
• Entries may not use copyrighted images (unless copyrighted by the designer)
• You do not have to be a journalist to win: all high school student entries are welcome!
• Limit one front-and-back entry per student

DEADLINE

• All entries must be submitted to the form below by noon on Oct. 7, 2021

WINNING ENTRY

• The winning entry (or entries!) will be determined by a vote and will be announced on KSPA’s twitter account: www.twitter.com/kspastaff.
