Emily Smith, CJE, advises student media at Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg. Her staffs have won various state and national awards, including NSPA Pacemakers, All-American ratings and individual contests. Smith is a 2016 JEA Rising Star, 2015 & 2021 Jackie Engel award winner and a 2013 ASNE Fellow. Smith is passionate about scholastic journalism and the First Amendment and loves teaching at journalism workshops and JEA/NSPA conventions.
