Jessica Augustine has taught at both private and public Kansas schools. She started her career at Kapaun Mt. Carmel, where she advised the Paladin newsmagazine and Crusader yearbook, along with instructing the journalism classes and beginning a videojournalism program. After teaching there for six years, she taught English and journalism at Rock Creek. While there, she revived the Hoof Print newspaper, created the RCTV newscast, improved the Mustang yearbook and involved her students in KSPA contests and critiques. After teaching there for 11 years, she moved home to Ellis County to teach at Hays High School, where she currently advises the Guidon newspaper and Indian Call yearbook, along with teaching journalism and web design. She also instructs English, education and leadership courses for Highland Community College, is a JEA, KSPA and NSPA member, has earned her CJE and has judged for NSPA and CSPA.
